A. J. Casson was a late comer to the Group, and although he shared some similar subjects of the Group, he maintained his own interests and primarily painted rural scenes of Southern Ontario.

Alfred Joseph Casson was born in Toronto on May 17, 1898, and for more than eight decades his life was centred in Southern Ontario. He was a young commercial artist, assistant to Frank Carmichael, when the Group of Seven (of which Carmichael was a member) was finally formed. This connection helped to lead A.J. Casson to fame. In 1926 the Group of Seven consisted of only six, because of the withdrawal of Frank Johnston, and the group turned to Casson in order to re-authenticate its name.

Casson differred from the rest of the group, not only through his late enrollment, but also in the fact that he continued to work as a commercial artist until the age of sixty, when he retired as Vice President and Art Director of Samson-Mathews in Toronto. Casson's subjects also differ somewhat from those of the rest of the group, for he has never shown much interest in the North Woods landscape of which the others were so fond. His favorite subjects have consistently been rural scenes of Southern Ontario.

There are no up-front fees for this service to those Sellers that decide to sell with us. We will review the submission and contact you with our recommended course of action that will help you get the widest exposure and best return on your painting.

If a particular work is easily authenticated and identified, we usually do not pass on authentication or appraisal costs to the Seller. In some extreme cases where authentication is difficult, we reserve the right to invoice the Seller for these costs or a portion thereof. These are typically $250.00 in each instance and typically do not exceed $500.00 in total, plus the selling commission.

All new artwork postings will be charged a $250.00 posting and administrative fee. If you are selling on consignment with us this fee is refundable to you if we sell the artwork at a price of over $5,000 on your behalf.

We will find you the most efficient means of selling your artwork. Because we have low overhead and typically incur low costs until a Buyer is found, we do not charge high Gallery commissions. That means more money for you, and often a reasonable price for the Buyer.

Our Commission Structure is as follows - which also includes and covers fees that we may have to pay to our Affiliated Associate Dealers and Organizations:

• Artworks valued at under $5,000 Cdn are charged 25% of the selling price. All consigned artworks are subject to a minimum charge of $500.00 Cdn, which includes the initial $250.00 posting and administrative fee.
• Artworks valued at $5,000 - $20,000 Cdn are charged 20% of the selling price.
• Artworks valued from $20,001 - $75,000 Cdn are charged 15% of the selling price.
• Artworks valued over $75,001 Cdn are charged 10% of the selling price.
  
• Commissions for extraordinary artworks valued over $250,000 can be negotiated.
